Mulled Wine
Mulled wine is a warm and fragrant drink made by gently heating red wine with sugar, citrus peel and spices. Rich, aromatic and comforting, it is perfect for cold evenings and festive gatherings.
Ingredients
- 750 ml red wine
- 100 g sugar
- Peel of 1 orange
- Peel of 1 lemon
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 3 cloves
- 1 star anise, optional
How to Make It
- Pour the red wine into a saucepan
- Add the sugar and stir gently
- Add the orange peel and lemon peel
- Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves and star anise if using
- Heat over low heat without boiling
- Simmer gently for 15–20 minutes
- Stir occasionally until the sugar has dissolved
- Strain before serving
- Serve hot
Tips
- Do not let it boil, to preserve aroma and character
- Adjust the sugar to your taste
- Add extra spices if you prefer a deeper flavor
- Serve immediately while hot

- Best served fresh
- Can be reheated gently once
