About This Dish

Tiramisù is Italy’s most beloved dessert — a perfect combination of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, creamy mascarpone filling, and a dusting of cocoa. The name means “pick me up” in Italian, thanks to the energizing kick of coffee. Our version is the real deal: no whipped cream, just authentic flavors passed down through generations.

Ingredients

Eggs (separated): 3
Sugar: 50 g
Mascarpone: 250 g
Savoiardi (Ladyfingers): 150 g
Fresh Coffee: Unsweetened, for soaking
Dark Cocoa Powder: Unsweetened, to dust

How to Make It

Prep Time: 20 mins | Chill Time: 3 hrs | Total Time: 3 hrs 20 mins

  • Step 1: Separate egg whites from yolks. Whisk yolks with sugar until pale and creamy.
  • Step 2: Add mascarpone to yolk mixture and blend until smooth.
  • Step 3: Whip egg whites to stiff peaks and gently fold into mascarpone cream.
  • Step 4: Dip savoiardi quickly into unsweetened coffee and arrange as the first layer in a dish.
  • Step 5: Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the layer, then repeat with another layer of soaked biscuits and cream.
  • Step 6: Dust generously with cocoa powder and chill for at least 3 hours before serving.

Tucci’s Tips

Use strong, freshly brewed espresso for the best flavor.
Do not soak the biscuits too long or they will fall apart.
Chill overnight for an even better taste and texture.

Variations

  • Alcohol Touch: Add a splash of Marsala or coffee liqueur to the coffee soak.
  • Chocolate Lover: Add grated dark chocolate between layers for extra richness.
  • Fruit Twist: Top with strawberries for a fresh spin.
