Baked Black Kale Chips

Baked black kale chips are a light and crunchy snack, simple and nutritious. Oven-baked with olive oil, the leaves become crisp and flavourful, perfect as a healthy alternative to traditional chips.

Ingredients

  • 200 g black kale
  • 20 ml extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper optional

How to Make It

  • Wash the kale and dry thoroughly
  • Remove tough stems
  • Tear leaves into bite-size pieces
  • Place in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil
  • Massage gently to coat evenly
  • Arrange on a baking tray in a single layer
  • Season with salt and pepper
  • Bake at 180°C for about 12 to 15 minutes
  • Cook until crisp but not browned
  • Let cool slightly before serving

Tips

  • Dry kale well before baking
  • Do not overcrowd the tray
  • Massage oil evenly
  • Watch carefully to avoid burning

Storage

  • Best eaten fresh
  • Can be kept for up to 1 day in an airtight container
  • Not suitable for freezing
